Anu Patel, MD, is a highly skilled Detroit-area ophthalmologist offering specialized retina care at the Retina Institute of Michigan in Bingham Farms, Michigan. Dr. Patel offers medical and surgical care for all diseases and conditions affecting the retina, including diabetic eye care, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, retinopathy, vitreoretinal surgery, and more.
Dr. Patel is a longtime Michigan resident and was born in the Detroit area. She earned her biology and neuroscience degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and went on to earn her medical degree at Wayne State University in Detroit. She graduated with honors and was elected to the highly prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society while there.
Dr. Patel completed her ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, where she was chief resident. She then completed an additional two-year medical and surgical fellowship in retina care at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan, New York. During her training, Dr. Patel worked with a wide cross-section of patients from all across Michigan, including both children and adults. Dr. Patel is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Surgeons.
Patients from all over the state travel to see Dr. Patel because of her specialized knowledge, compassionate and individualized care, and her unique approach to intraocular injections. In her free time, Dr. Patel loves spending time with her two children and two rescue dogs. She’s also a fitness and travel enthusiast, as well.
